Grace Baptist Fort Scott
It does make a difference what you believe!

STATEMENT OF FAITH:

GOD:

We believe there is one God (I Timothy 2:5) who manifests Himself as three persons: God the Father, the Lord Jesus Christ (God's Son), and the Holy Spirit (Matthew 3:16-17).

THE BIBLE:

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God, and is profitable for our life (II Timothy 3:16). We believe that God used holy men of God to write the Scriptures (II Peter 1:21). We also believe the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible to be the preserved Word of God.

SALVATION:

We believe that salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ and His substitutionary death on the cross, and not of works (Ephesians 2:8-9). Jesus Christ, the virgin-born and sinless Son of God, shed His own blood to pay for our sins (I Peter 3:18; II Corinthians 5:21).  A sinner is saved by trusting in the shed blood of Jesus Christ (Matthew 26:28) and willfully repenting of their sin and receiving Christ as their personal Savior (Romans 10:9-10).

SECURITY OF THE BELIEVER:

We believe that once a sinner has received Jesus Christ as their personal Savior (they have been saved or born again) they receive eternal life and are held in the hand of God, no one being able to remove them from the hand of God (John 10:28-29). We call this eternal security. Once saved, always saved. It is God who saved us, and it is God who keeps us.

HEAVEN AND HELL:

We believe in a literal heaven and a literal hell. There will be a literal bodily resurrection which will result in the individual spending all of eternity either in heaven or hell. If you know Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, your eternal state will be in heaven (John 14:3). If you reject Christ as your personal Savior, your eternal state will be everlasting punishment in a literal hell. Luke 16:19-31 is a very clear passage of Scripture explaining this.

THE CHURCH:

We believe that the church is a body of saved, then baptized (by immersion- Acts 8:36-39) believers united together to carry out the command of the One who established the church, the Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:19-20).

HOW YOU CAN BE SAVED:

The most important decision that you can ever make in your entire life is to receive Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. We would like to share with you four steps to receiving Christ as your personal Savior and spending all of eternity in heaven with a God who loves you.

1. Realize that you are a sinner.  Most people think that they are pretty good, but the Bible tells us in Romans 3:10 that "There is none righteous, no, not one."  If you are honest, you would have to admit that there have been some sins in your life at one time or another.  Romans 3:23 says: "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."  You must first realize that you are a sinner.

2. Admit that you are powerless to do anything about it.  The Bible says in Titus 3:5 that it is "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us."  Ephesians 2:8-9 says: "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast."  Although there is nothing that we can do about our sin, there is One who can; Jesus Christ.  It is only Jesus Christ's shed blood on the cross of Calvary that can cleanse us of our sin.

3. Believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross and rose again so you could have forgiveness of your sins.  The Bible says in Romans 5:6,8 these words: "For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. (8) But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."  God loves you and He sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross to pay your sin debt.  In John 3:36 the Bible says: "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him."  You must believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins and rose again.

4. Confess your sins and ask Jesus Christ to be your personal Savior.  Romans 10:9-10 says: "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; And with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."  You may think, "But I've been too bad of a person.  God wouldn't save me."  Friend, the Bible tells us in Romans 10:13 that "whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."

Do you realize that you are a sinner?  Do you admit you can't save yourself?  Do you believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross and rose again so you could have salvation?  If so, why not take the last step and confess your sins to God and ask Jesus Christ to be your personal Savior?  All you have to do is pray to Him.

If you have prayed and asked Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, or if you would like more information on how you can be saved, please call the church at (620)223-3140 and let us know.  This is the greatest decision you can ever make in your life!
